I’m not good at small talk or wooing a lady. I’ve always just managed to get what I want, sex.

With Karina, I want to crack her calm exterior and see what’s inside.

Her eyes crinkle with a hint of a smile. “That sounds dangerous.”

“Good.” I grab her hand and drag her back upstairs, this time to our bedroom, alone. I don’t need Alessandro or Giovan interrupting us. And I certainly don’t want to get dragged into discussing what happened today at the house with the boss.

A good night’s sleep will make that easier.

She follows behind me. Her hand latched onto mine. The sensation is warm and strange, unfamiliar, yet I don’t want to let go of her, ever.

“What kind of game are we playing that involves alcohol?” Karina asks.

I open the bedroom door and gesture for her to enter first while I flip on the light switch and shut the door, locking it behind me.

No interruptions.

“A drinking game, Micetta,” I say.

“We’re not twenty anymore,” Karina says. “I can’t wake up with a hangover. I have work in the morning.”

“As do I,” I remind her. She’s not the only one with responsibilities, and I have to discuss Dorian Bianchi with Alessandro. At least a little alcohol will help me forget about that dreaded moment for a while. “I also want to get Ashton enrolled right away into Northshore Academy, first thing in the morning.”

Which means my ass will be up early. But honestly, I don’t care. Tomorrow feels like a lifetime away.

She backs up to the bed and props herself on the edge. I kick off my shoes and socks. I should have taken my shoes off when I came into the house, but I’d been distracted with a million other things.

I loosen my tie and pop a few buttons, taking my suit coat off too.

She’s trying desperately to hide the grin spreading across her face.

Is she ogling me?

“Like something you see?” I ask, tilting my head as I catch her stare.

She inhales a sharp breath, and her tongue juts out, swiping her top lip. I don’t even think she realizes that she makes that small gesture, but it makes my cock hard.

“Just tired. Staring off into space,” she says, her voice soft and distant.

Yeah, right.

“Oh, is that so? That’s too bad. I thought you were enjoying the show, and I was willing to ditch a few more buttons and maybe even my slacks, but if it’s not doing what I thought to you, I can just leave my clothes on.”

Karina glances away, her cheeks flaming.

Busted.

I stalk across the empty space between us. I lift her chin, guiding her gaze to mine. “Tell me, Micetta. When was the last time that you had sex?”

A soft puff of air spills past her lips. Her eyes darken and her cheeks redden.
